Two events, one in York and another in Nottingham, took place today with others which were to take place later in the month.

The organizer Dave Krangel explained the motivation behind the event, saying: “We have just started winter heaters as a motivation for people to go out, train and focus on their health and well-being at start of the year.

“We decided that the refuge was a good charity because during the winter months, they need support for all those who may need it.”

Runners prepared for the event on KnavesMire (Image: Dylan Connell) Starting with a half-marathon at 9 a.m., the winter heaters composed of three races-a 5K, a 10 km and a half-marathon-with just under 600 people participating in total.

The runners for 5 and 10 km races obtained their starting gun around 10am with the fastest 5 km runner, Kingsley Firth, finishing the race in 11:05 p.m.

The 10 km was won by Ben Wright in exactly 37 minutes and Jonny Brownridge finished the half-marathon in just over an hour, 26 minutes.

A complete list of winners can be found on the Corrective website alongside the details of their other events.
