The American commissioner PGA Tour Jay Monahan and Adam Scott implored President Donald Trump to help conclude a Saudi investment agreement and bring together the best golf players in a series.
A Declaration of PGA Tour Thursday awarded to Monahan and the Directors of Players Scott and Tiger Woods confirmed that Australia Scott and Monahan went to the White House on Tuesday in search of Trump’s help, a passionate golfer.
The discussions dragged 14 months after an original deadline between the PGA Tour and the donors of Liv Golf, the SAUDI Public Investment Fund, to bring together the best players in the sport, many of which are wrapped from the PGA to the Upstart series and are prohibited of PGA events.
Liv and the PGA Tour have planned 2025 seasons, because the details remain incomplete on a PIF investment agreement, the legal concerns of the US Ministry of Justice concerning the Saudi financing of an American company among the problems concerned.
“We know that golf fans impatiently anticipate a resolution of negotiations with the public investment fund and would like to thank President Trump for his interest and his long -standing support for golf”, said the press release from Monahan and Players.
“We asked the president to get involved for the good of the game, the good of the country and all the countries involved.
“We are grateful that his leadership has brought us closer to a final agreement, opening the way to the reunification of male professional golf.”
No details of the conversation with Trump was revealed and there was no indication when an agreement could really be concluded.
Trump’s Dural course should organize a LIV golf event on April 4 to 6, the week before the Masters.
At this point, major tournaments such as the annual confrontation at Augusta National are the only places where the best players in the world of Liv and the PGA can compete against each other.
