The defender of Arsenal Takehiro Tomiyasu should miss the rest of the season after having undergone knee surgery.
Tomiyasu only made one appearance all season after getting out of the bench against Southampton for the last six minutes of a 3-1 victory.
The Japanese international was disturbed by a knee problem and has undergone surgery to solve it.
Tomiyasu, who announced Tuesday evening that he had passed under the knife, should not be back before the end of the season.
“I undergone surgery on my knees a few days ago and I already started my rehabilitation to do what I like the most,” said Tomiyasu in an Instagram post.
“It was the most difficult period of my career for sure and he continued a little more, but I will not give up. Thank you for your support and again.
Tomiyasu being out was a blow for Arsenal because the defender is versatile and capable of playing anywhere on the bottom line.
The 26 -year -old was excelled last season in the left back, but he also regularly presented for Arsenal on the opposite flank.
“I always say that I am really confident when Tomi is consistent, because it will be a great asset for us,” said Mikel Arteta last season.
“He can play in any position in the background line, any training in the background – we don’t have a player like him.
“His defense is probably one of the best I have seen in many situations. When Tomi is at its best, we will have a player who will be so important to us. »»
Arsenal was particularly affected by defense injuries this season, but they were at least stimulated by Ben White’s recent return.
White underwent a knee operation in November, but he returned to the team last week and was on the bench for the 2-0 victory from Arsenal to Leicester.
Arsenal will seek to gradually accumulate the minutes of 27 years due to its release for an extended period.
