Kai Havertz reveals surgery on the Ischio-Lend-season injury was a success

Arsenal striker Kai Havertz revealed that he had succeeded in undergoing surgery to repair the hamstiff injury that ended his season.

The Gunners revealed last week that the 25 -year -old German international needed an operation to respond to the damage he suffered during a training camp in hot weather in Dubai, and that the procedure now has been carried out.

Publishing a photo of his hospital bed on Instagram, Havertz said: “The last days have been difficult to treat physically and mentally. But yesterday was a good day. A successful op and a victory.

“Thank you for all the messages of support in the past few days, it’s really helped.

“I now focus on my trip to the full shape and I give all the support that I can provide to the team in the background.”

Havertz, who had scored 15 goals for the season when the misfortune has struck, will now embark on a rehabilitation period which should extend to the preparations of Arsenal for next season.

With Gabriel Jesus, Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli also injured currently, the boss of the Gunners Mikel Arteta saw his options of attack severely limited.

However, midfielder Mikel Merino provided an unlikely solution on Saturday when he left the bench to score the two goals during a Premier League 2-0 victory in Leicester.
