Warren Gatland left his role as head coach of Wales, with immediate effect.

Gatland, 61, had a successful first passage as a WRU coach between 2007 and 2019, winning four six-nations titles, including three grandems and going to the World Cup semi-final in 2011 .

The New Zealander resumed the role in 2022, but only succeeded in six victories of 26 outings.

The pressure rose to Gatland while Wales continues to suffer from its longest sequence that lost – now up to 14.

In addition to that, Wales too:

  • Are a record of 12th in the world rugby ranking

  • I have not won a test from the 2023 World Cup

  • Have lost eight six -nations games in a row

  • Has undergone consecutive defeats against Italy for the first time

On the current form, a second wooden spoon successive of six nations is also waiting.

Warren Gatland descends as a Wales coach

Gatland has now left his role as head coach of Wales after being concluded in a mutual agreement with the Welsh Rugby Union (WRU), announced on Tuesday, February 11.

Gatland’s departure arrives halfway through the 2025 Guinness Six Nations tournament with three games still to play – against Ireland, Scotland and England.

Cardiffโ€™s head coach Matt Sherratt will take care of Wales’ country, Wru was announced on Tuesday.

Looking further in permanent replacement of Gatland, as well as Sherratt, the former coach of Australia Michael Cheika, the coach of Glasgow Franco Smith and the acting boss of Ireland Simon Easterby were also linked to the work of the country Wales.
